CortexCommerce is operated by JTS Tech Services, based in Maple, Ontario, Canada. Questions about these terms go to privacy@cortexcommerce.ai.
The service
CortexCommerce reads a store's product-catalog data, uses AI to write better titles, descriptions, tags and SEO content, and writes approved content back to the store. On Shopify it installs as the CortexGuard app; on WooCommerce it is a free plugin used with a CortexCommerce account; for any other store it is the CortexCommerce app. Use of the service is also subject to our privacy policy.
If you create a CortexCommerce account, you sign up with your email address and set a password from a link we email you. Keep your sign-in secure: you are responsible for activity under your account.
AI usage disclosure
CortexCommerce is an AI-powered tool. Product copy, brand-voice setup help and other content are written by large language models. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your store, and may vary between runs.
The in-app brand-profile assistant ("Cortex") is a setup helper scoped only to defining your brand voice. It has no access to your store, catalog, orders or customer data, and is not a general-purpose assistant or a source of legal, financial, medical or professional advice.
Your responsibility for AI-written content
You are responsible for all AI-written content published to your store. By default nothing is published until you approve it: every change is staged in the review inbox, where you can approve, edit or reject it.
You may switch on automation, which publishes content that meets a confidence threshold and the limits you set, without a further review step. Automation is off unless you turn it on. Content published through automation is published on your instruction and is your responsibility exactly as approved content is.
Fields you lock are never changed, and prices, SKUs, inventory and other commercial identifiers are never written by the AI.
You are solely responsible for making sure that content published to your store is accurate, lawful, non-infringing and appropriate for your products and customers, including compliance with the advertising, labelling and consumer-protection rules that apply to your business.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the service to generate unlawful, infringing, deceptive or harmful content.
- Do not try to manipulate, jailbreak or misuse the AI features to produce content outside the service's intended scope.
- Do not try to reach another merchant's data or get around the service's security controls.
Ownership
You keep ownership of your catalog data and of the content you publish to your store, including AI-written content once you publish it. You grant us the licence we need to process that data to provide the service. We keep ownership of the service, the apps, the plugin and everything we build into them.
Billing and credits
Paid use for a Shopify store is billed through Shopify, under the plan and credit terms shown in the CortexGuard app when you approve a charge. Paid use for a WooCommerce store, or any store in the CortexCommerce app, is billed by card through Stripe Checkout, under the plan and credit terms shown at checkout. Stripe collects card details; we never store them. Current plans and packs are on the pricing page.
Currency and tax. For a store billed through Stripe, prices are in US dollars (USD). If your billing location is in Canada, you pay the same amounts in Canadian dollars (CAD) plus your province's sales tax, which Stripe Tax calculates. Everywhere else you pay in USD and we add no tax. Shopify bills its own app charges, including any tax on them, under Shopify's terms.
Free allowance. The free allowance is given once per account and once per store domain. We keep a one-way hash of each domain that has used it, even after an account is deleted, so that deleting and signing up again does not bring it back.
Credits. Plan credits roll over while a paid subscription is active. If you drop to Free, unused plan credits stay spendable for 90 days; after that only pack credits (and any free allowance left) spend. Credit packs bought as one-time purchases never expire, and neither do credits bought as a custom top-up amount. On Shopify, if you uninstall the app, unused credits stay available for 90 days if you reinstall, then lapse. For a store billed through Stripe the same plan rules apply: unused plan credits roll over, and if the store drops to Free or you remove it from your account, they stay spendable for 90 days. Features and prices are those shown in the app or at checkout when you approve a charge.
Stopping and termination
You may stop at any time: uninstall the CortexGuard app on Shopify, or remove a store from your CortexCommerce account. You may delete your account at any time with Delete my account in Settings. Deleting it cancels any Stripe subscription and permanently erases the account and its unused credits, as set out in the privacy policy. We may suspend or end access where these terms are broken, where use puts the service or another merchant at risk, or where the law requires it. Data handling after termination follows the privacy policy.
The scanner and the leaderboard
The AI-visibility scanner and the public leaderboard are free tools provided as is. Scores are automated estimates from publicly reachable pages at one point in time; they are not a rating, a certification or a statement of fact about any brand. If you think a published score or listing about your brand is wrong, or you want it removed, email privacy@cortexcommerce.ai and we will review it. How scores are worked out is on How we score.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service, the public tools and all AI-written content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI output will be error-free or meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, JTS Tech Services, the operator of CortexCommerce, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss arising from content published to your store, your reliance on AI-written output, or your use of the service or the public tools. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Indemnity
You agree to cover us for third-party claims arising from content published to your store through the service, or from your use of the service in breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Nothing here removes a consumer-protection right you have under the law of your own country that cannot be waived by agreement.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. We may assign these terms as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets; you may not assign them without our consent. These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the entire agreement between us about the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. Material changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where required, told to merchants. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
